School uniforms are a requirement of most schools in the area, which is a challenge as they’re not always very affordable and for people in fixed or limited incomes, it’s a major stress.
For the past few years, Zero Waste Leeds have been working with partners to provide a School Uniform exchange to help young people and parents out.
Heading into the new school year, on August 29th, Zero Waste Leeds were at Newell Mount Community Group at Nowells Community Centre to provide good quality second hand school uniforms.
This has always been a fantastic service, and it was great to talk with organisers back in July at the Harehills Street Market at the Compton Centre. It was obvious these are people that are passionate not only about stopping things going to waste, but helping families.

I just want to say thank you to Zero Waste Leeds, Nowell Mount Community Group, and all the other venues that take place, or help collect uniforms. It is an amazing service, and shows we can work towards saving the planet and making the community better.
