Advent Day 8: Junior Sports Hub Gap Shap Café Chit Chat

Last year, Junior Sports Hub brought us their fantastic community garden, a lovely green space filled with plants, fruits and vegetables. Following a long road of building and refurbishing, the Junior Sports Hub opened it’s fantastic new café back in August.

The grand opening was 30th August, and started with one of Junior Sports Hub play street events, with bouncy castle, local markets, seed planting with Taz, t-shirt designing with Leeds Youth Service, barbecue burgers, candy floss, fun and games, a stand from the police and a visit from the Fire Brigade (their to see the youngsters and not for the barbecue).

The Café itself is a lovely space, that the community will benefit from immensely. It even has a library of books, aimed at young people, but there’s a lot there I find fascinating.

It’s delightful to see events using the space already, with one for women, and another for the elderly (there’s a lot of focus on young people in the area, so it’s always good to see new provision for older people in society)
